PROPERTIES FOR SALE IN KYUSTENDIL The town of Kyustendil is located in a valley surrounded by hillocks and mountains. The climate is traditionally continental with Mediterranean influence. The mild weather is largely due to the beneficial effect of the mountains which surround the plain from the north, east and west. The average annual temperature is 11 C; and the average July temperature, 21.6C.
The mineral waters of the numerous natural springs and wells have an almost uniform chemical composition, temperature and sulphide content. The waters are clear and colourless. The curative and preventive properties of Kyustendil's mineral waters have been known since ancient times.

Kyustendil is famous for being Bulgaria's orchard. The fruits that grow here have a unique taste and flavor.The tradition of fruit growing here is an ancient one. As early as Thracian times, the fruit trees were cultivated. The most popular are the apple tree orchards in the village of Dragovishtitsa (7190 dka) and the village of Konyavo (5284 dka).The main types of apples grown in the region are Golden, Red, and Granny Smith apples. The largest pear tree orchards are in the village of Nevistino spanning 1020 decares.
The Kyustendil region is also famous for its cherry tree orchards in the villages of Konyavo, Tavalichevo, Gorna Grashtitsa, and Nevestino.The main brands grown here are Bing and Lambert cherries. The morello-cherry tree orchards span 1423 dka and the plum trees span 4420 dka. The Fruit Growing Research Institute was established in 1929 in Kyustendil, and has contributed to the agricultural development in the region. Its research is focused mainly on cherry production. The institute has a large nursery garden, established in 1949, where all sorts of seedlings are grown.
The region abunds with granites, clays, fossils, and ores. Polymetal ores are excavated in Ossogovo; brown coals in the famous Bobov dol mines. Clays deposits are located at the villages of Chetirtzi, Jahinovo and Dragovistitza. The region, however, is most famous for its numerous mineral water springs: hot mineral water springs in Kustendil, Sapareva banja, the villages of Nevestino and Chetirtzi.
